With the season 5 finale still fresh in my mind, I decided to take another look at the season premiere to get an idea of just how far this season has come. My answer: not very.

There is a scene in particular that stood out. After 3 women pull up to Seattle Grace after suffering a horrible car accident, it becomes clear that one of them is experiencing some short term memory lost. As she was in the midst of getting her MRI, administered by Isabelle Stevens, the patient begins questioning her surroundings as a result of her memory loss. Alex Karev suddenly walks in and Izzy and Alex both mock the patient’s sudden disorientation.

The obvious irony is that in the season finale, they are both involved in a very similar situation, only this time Izzy is the patient and Alex is the patient’s husband.

The similarities continue. The premiere ends with Izzy leaving the elevator in her wedding dress and being greeted by Denny, her deceased fiance. This scene reappears in the finale as well, only in the finale, Izzy is met by a dying George dressed in an army uniform.

I am not sure what to make of this, if anything at all.
